What is the Santa Monica New Heroes Celebration?

The Santa Monica New Heroes Celebration is an important event that Santa MoniCARES is bringing back to recognize the people doing great work to help educate, inspire, and protect our community. New hires to local schools, the Police Department, and the Fire Department from the past year will be named and recognized.

In addition to welcoming new team members, the event features a special honor for seasoned leaders within the Police Department, Fire Department, and Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD). This award recognizes dedicated individuals who lead with steadfast endurance, deep empathy, and an extraordinary gift for making others feel valued, safe, and seen. These honorees create a powerful ripple effect—inspiring everyone around them to strive for excellence and improvement every day.

The award ceremony will be followed by a reception with light bites and refreshments, as well as exhibitors from local nonprofits, City departments, community groups, and local businesses.
